Blast from The Past

I have this weird affinity to anything that takes me to a past time. A past time I was not even a part of. There's been a few encounters in recent times that it took me out of present day and made me feel like a youth of the sixties. Which along with a crap load of other people, think would've been an insanely interesting time to have experienced. Written in the notes on my phone is one of the first times I felt like this, where "Break on Through" by The Doors was playing on Atlantic Ave and I was just hanging out with some friends and totally felt taken back to a different time. Or another time at ironically a diner called, Flashbacks, where "Wild Thing" was playing as a few of us scarfed down pancakes and drinks that completely made me feel out of 2014. And most recently, I was at a place called, Respectable Street, that had Andy Warhol's famous screen tests projected onto the walls, the backdrop for some kids sitting at the tops of sofas, on a New Years night. I really love when people take old images and forms of art and throw them into modern day. Those arts were created years and years ago, demonstrative of the current culture around in such an authentic and full way that just by experiencing them now, we're able to be surrounded and encapsulated in a past time. I just love it so much. There's so many different medias that makes this available to us, and it's really such a cool factor of art. Fashion, music, paintings. Just cause the number of the year has changed, sometimes it doesn't mean we can't try to experience it again. Or for our generation now, for the first time.
