Flowers in December (January)
Hi guyz, been keeping myself busy with a lot recently. Working on setting up shoots with people and self shooting to get a practice in every now and then. Been working on some art as well and racking up inspiration. The prospect of music is arising and I'm in the middle of figuring out where I'll be going back to school. So busy bee, who's just starting to scrape up enough money that I can get some camera batteries, a charger for my other one, film for an instant one, paint, and colored lightbulbs. So things to come. Here's a tree. Thank you for keeping up with me, and also come to my Instagram, @veronicazavel and my Tumblr, vzvzvz.tumblr.com, there's good there too.

A Morning of Photography: Bobby Whigham
Nothing better than waking up and before finishing your morning coffee, coming across a new photographer to inspire you. I frequent Tumblr quite a lot, mine is vzvzvz.tumblr.com if interested, and it's always served as a really good source for photography, art, and fashion that would take a hell of a lot more work to find without it all in the nice compact form that Tumblr accomplishes. So browsing today I came across a photograph I loved with the specific kind of lighting that makes my eyes swoon and decided to look into the source cause anyone with that sort of eye is going to have more that speaks to my heart. And I was right, and of course he's photographed for Urban Outfitters. Here's some peaks into the world of Bobby Whigham and some of my favorite images:

Blast from The Past

I have this weird affinity to anything that takes me to a past time. A past time I was not even a part of. There's been a few encounters in recent times that it took me out of present day and made me feel like a youth of the sixties. Which along with a crap load of other people, think would've been an insanely interesting time to have experienced. Written in the notes on my phone is one of the first times I felt like this, where "Break on Through" by The Doors was playing on Atlantic Ave and I was just hanging out with some friends and totally felt taken back to a different time. Or another time at ironically a diner called, Flashbacks, where "Wild Thing" was playing as a few of us scarfed down pancakes and drinks that completely made me feel out of 2014. And most recently, I was at a place called, Respectable Street, that had Andy Warhol's famous screen tests projected onto the walls, the backdrop for some kids sitting at the tops of sofas, on a New Years night. I really love when people take old images and forms of art and throw them into modern day. Those arts were created years and years ago, demonstrative of the current culture around in such an authentic and full way that just by experiencing them now, we're able to be surrounded and encapsulated in a past time. I just love it so much. There's so many different medias that makes this available to us, and it's really such a cool factor of art. Fashion, music, paintings. Just cause the number of the year has changed, sometimes it doesn't mean we can't try to experience it again. Or for our generation now, for the first time.

The Docs Girl
I receive a pretty generous discount through the company I work for to Urban Outfitters and it makes it way more possible to indulge myself in some quality items I'd have to save up for otherwise. On that list, has always been a pair of classic Dr. Marten's. So I've been on the look out for Urban to have them and a little gift got delievered to my door today. They're the Worn In classic 1460 boot in black. Click for page, here By "worn in" it basically means you don't have to go through the entire break in process that Dr.Marten's are pretty known for. They're pretty comfortable right off the bat but I completely suggest ordering them true to size, these aren't the kinds of shoes you can size down and think you're feet are gonna look cute and small. You will be fucked. Don't even try. Half size? Size up. These also look really silly when they're too small, they're the kind of shoe you have to embrace the bulkiness. And they're classics, so its okay. The toe cap won't stretch out at all so you're toes will be bent and shoved for eternity. These also come with a lifetime warranty that if something goes wrong with them, they'll fix them for you. They really could last you forever, so I'll always say I believe they're worth every penny. Plus, I don't know an outfit these don't go perfectly with. So, yes, I'm a fan and I recommend these 100%
Also, funny story. I went to my mother's friend's salon in New York years ago and there was a front desk girl: dark hair, dark outfit, I think a skirt and with these Docs and for some reason I always remember her. She just looked perfect, everything about her made her that kind of girl I looked at and admired, even just sitting at a front desk. Strange the simple things that stick and she has no idea. The people that inspire me are strange but there's an ongoing list that racks up in the back of my brain that I refer to daily.

My ideal woman
I have a number of photos of this little chica that I'm slightly obsessed with. She's French, wears a neck scarf, can bust plenty of moves, and dated Andrew Vanwyngarden. So she's basically the human form of my dream self. I'll post more of her another time but she's bomb. Her name's Camille Rowe and you can follow her shenanigans @fingermonkey

Health life
My mom recently found out about her high cholesterol which means no more of her filling the house with fried up pastas, which makes it way easier for me to stay on eating healthy. Just gobbled down a giant bowl of kale salad and drinking some strawberry Kefir. Also, received runners for Christmas from Free People that I absolutely adore and can't wait to start working out with them!
The goal is to wear them at least one time everyday meaning I'm doing at least one active thing once a day. Of course there will be exceptions but for the most part it's a good goal and I've already worked out today, woot woot

Makeshift shoot 1.2.15
Did a photoshoot with one of my best friends, Gloria. Late night shooting, curtain backdrop, my lights on shoeboxes, shot with an iPhone 5 and I couldn't be happier with the results. It was great practice and experience of just a jist of what goes into a photoshoot. I understand now the want to capture emotion in a photograph and my absolute favorite shots I got were where you really could see emotion coming through. Directing the shoot, laying her hair the way I wanted, seating her a certain way, collaborating on styling and make up, just so much and it was so fun and inspiring. It really did give me great experience in showing me what I want in photographs. I can tell with each one I do it'll get better and better. Just so happy that within the few first days of 2015, I've already filled it with such creating. Will definitely be shooting more people soon, here are a bunch of my favorite shots.
