Beaut Buys

I recently got pretty/semi into cosmetics and skincare and I've definitely spent too much money over a period of time trying different things but I'm pretty set on the routine I've got now. So, here are my 13 favorite things and why I love them.
Clockwise from left to right:
  • e.l.f Neutral Eyes Beauty Book has six really good shades of eyeshadow for a neutral warm eye. I get use out of all the colors, some matte and some with shimmer, plus the bottom left one is the perfect taupe for eyebrow filling. I think it was only $5 and from Target.
  • Nars Orgasm blush, I splurged on this after hearing million star reviews on it from friends, and it really is the perfect shade. It gives you that glow like getting thrown into the cold where your cheeks get the perfect shade of chilly. Super natural, with a hint of gold shimmer that works on any skin tone. I got an online discount on it and Nars always offers free shipping online, but full price it's around $30
  • Maybelline Stiletto Liquid Eyeliner, I hated it at first but after getting used to the applicator it has a really good saturated black color that doesn't rub off through the day easily
  • Eyebrow gel. It's cheap, use it.
  • Maybelline Dream Matte Mousse has made me never have to go past the Maybelline section of a drugstore when I need cover up. It's the perfect texture that rubs into skin without feeling clogged or looking cakey. 100% the best I've used. $8? maybe a little more, and lasts a really long time
  • Jergens BB Body cream is the best after shower lotion. It barely has fragrance and just makes your skin feel so soft and healthy, and has a bunch of other benefits BB cream is supposed to have minus the makeup part.
  • Biore Self heating Mask comes with 4 packets. It warms upon contact with a damp face and heats up to open pores while you massage it to cleanse and then cools after washing. It cleared out my pores significantly after one 1-minute use. $5
  • Aveeno Clear Complexion Cleanser is the absolute best cleanser I've tried. It makes your face feel like a baby's bottom and doesn't dry it out. Works well for keeping away non-severe acne.
  • Peter Coppola Argan Oil is my post shower hair oil that helps just bring some moisture back in and it's a really pretty pinkish color.
  • Revlon PhotoReady Skin Illuminator, I bought this honestly cause of the packaging but ended up really liking it. It's almost like a liquid blush and adds a really nice glow when you want a done face or just a natural dewy look.
  • Maybelline Falsies Mascara, this stuff stays on like crazy, it's hard to even wash off sometimes so if you need a lasting mascara, this is perfect and does the job.
  • Maybelline BB Cream is my absolute favorite, another thing I use when I want to do full makeup or just running out of the house and want a little something on my face. It has really minimal coverage, it's not really something I use for cover up but it evens your skin nicely and moisturizes it while also having SPF and claims to help the appearance of skin over time as well. I love the consistency and I've repeatedly bought it a few times.
  • And last but not least, Nivea Crème, this cute little tin cost I believe $1.06 and comes packed with Nivea's classic cream. I did a little research to make sure it was safe as a face moisturizer and found a study that said it worked better for skin than Crème de La Mer, which is pricy as hell. I used it one day, in the morning and night, and my skin already has this really nice fresh glow. It's the thickest cream I've ever used and it's said to moisturize the most dehydrated skin. I plan to just buy it once this runs out and refill the on-the-go tin to just keep in my purse. Really, it's so cheap and works so well already.

Well there's everything! I definitely can't say I use all of these everyday, ain't nobody got time for that. But through my week these all get touched and most have or will become reoccurring buys. I'll be posting a lip care/color one soon as well!

SPOTLIGHT: on Colin Leaman

Colin Leaman remained nameless to me behind the Urban Outfitters photographs he's shot, but he surfaced through Instagram today to me and I made note to bring a spotlight on some of his work for the company, here. I've always been drawn to his photographs, especially the one of Camille Rowe that actually hung on my wall for quite a period of time as one of my favorite photos. His ability to capture a mood and essence to the people wearing the merchandise in a way that makes you want to be that girl leaves no wonder to why he is a frequently used photographer for catalogue and online for the company. Leaman is currently working in New York and has a personal blog featuring his work ColinLeaman.tumblr.com , I highly recommend taking a peak or just browsing the pages of UrbanOutfitters.com

Art Basel-ish 2014

Art Basel finally arrived last week to Miami and every single person seemed to be going there, and trying to find parking. Sadly, that made me not able to go to the Convention Center which is normally my first choice of where to go. But, same as last year, so many other spots were filled with art and people that the Basel leaked throughout Miami. I attended Friday and Saturday, both days getting really fucking good dinner and hanging out with my boyfriends friend from college, Wyatt Mills, who's a great painter and if you have the time, his stuff should really be checked out. Aside from that, there was some filled, no room to blink bar hopping, Wynwood strolling, and a lot of bumper to bumper "driving". I honestly didn't get the chance to enjoy pretty much any art besides what was on the insides of Basel House which consisted of Barack Obama art that a most likely highly inebriated girl was dancing on while a crowd of bystanders recorded her, watching through their cracked screens, cracking their devious smiles. It was, eh, not the happiest of times. But ran into my boy, Rasheed, who snapped a quick Polaroid of Andrew and me. Best part was finding this large, Factory-esque tile that I'm going to do some DIY project with for my room. It ended up being more of a hanging out in Miami weekend where the population count quadrupled but ended nicely at Wyatt's Airbnb pad in South Beach that was a perfect spot to wake up at.

Socks-piration

Via AnOther Magazine online
I've become a fan of socks with any type of shoes cause they give you even more bang for your buck with the versatility they can add to a heel or boot. I'll do a more in depth post of ones I'm loving and looks and such but here's a dainty look I'm taking note of today

Awaiting Art Basel

Art Basel 2014 is right around the corner, December 4th-7th to be exact. Last year I had a really awesome experience going to the Convention Center during the day, some artist presentations at hotels nearby prior, and Wynwood at night. Shooting a bunch that I saw which I definitely intend to do this year as well. I find myself pretty lucky to be local to the area where I get to indulge in such a huge gathering of art, artists, buyers, gallerys, etc etc every year...and to maybe once or twice graze a finger along an Andy Warhol or Picasso painting. I'm not saying "yes" or "no" to doing either of those. I'll say I would enjoy it and how I know this is up to interpretation. My favorite part of last year was Tracey Emin's work and Olafur Eliasson's the year prior, I'm itching for this years to come already. It's pretty much a day to night long event-stacked time that of course for me calls for an awesome outfit that I don't get sick of within the first hour.
I think for me it has to follow along the lines of, semi-comfortable, cool, stands out but not in the obnoxious "I'm at Art Basel it's time to stick a parrot on my head" way, and be effortless in the sense that you look like you threw it on when really you made an entire blog post focused on what to wear to it. It's a time you can really have fun with it and have a reason to pick a banging outfit so no, I really wouldn't pass that up as I don't come across events like that here too often.

If I had the funds, I'd get this Just Female co-ord top and bottom in a heartbeat and bear the Miami heat somehow in it.
I think I'm leaning towards plaid for some reason and I snagged a little plaid number for the next couple days since Basel actually starts today for me! Had this post chilling in my drafts and figured I'd get this in before I head out :) pictures and posts to come soon on Basel weekend. Seems like everybody's in town for this time

Lack of posts, I apologize :( I've been working 40 hour weeks for the corporate visit the store I work at was getting so zero free time means zero blogspot time but I promise things are coming soon! Just keep checking back and I'll be back in my routine again soon
