Chanel PFW

I think it's impossible not to blog about the Chanel show that just happened in Paris. With all the talk about feminism (the belief for equal treatment of men and women), from Emma Watson's speech to #FreetheNipple, equality for women is definitely being discussed and a so called "hot topic" even though the root of it began many years ago. Karl Lagerfeld must have taken notice because his S/S 15 collection was pretty loud in favor of it. The models ran through faux Parisian streets with signs of equality and donned looks filled with psychedelic swirly prints and bold stripes. I loved the homage to the fashion of the time of the sixties and seventies, the women protestors in wool pantsuits stood out the most to me while also pointing out that these protestors are "fighting" for current issues in attire from years ago, really marking how this battle is still going on and that feminism could be a huge cause of this generation in the same way protesting the Vietnam War was. The vertical pinstripes were a perfect spring/summer look and I really loved seeing Gisele Bundchen walking for some reason, I just love when it's not all brand new faces and you see familiar faces in a world that has an "it girl" for a minute and then it's on to the next. The shoes were my favorite part as well as the text purses. But enough talking, here's some of my favorite shots

First of my 21st

Just wanted to share my outfit for my 21st birthday that I put way to much time into deciding but was quite happy with the outcome! I did get completely drenched with rain but that's alright.

Me on left at Respectable Street
Native Rose Mix-Print Dress, Urban Outfitters. Socks, American Apparel. Melina Heeled Boots, Jeffrey Campbell.

Outfit Spotlight

Already found on here before, Danielle Bernstein of WeWoreWhat, posted an outfit today of simple perfection to me, I'd like to snatch it right off her. To bring in the new autumn weather, a good tight or cowled turtleneck is always good in my book and she does it with a thin knit one that at first glance almost had a subtle green tint to me that I think worked perfectly with the pop of oxblood shoe. Mentioned before too, I love a good awkward mom jean and the fit and cropped length of these look awesome when done well. Now looking at it again, the sweater might be straight grey but still I really can't get over the simple coolness of this and the pop that those flats add, I think a good sharp shoe can make any more casual outfit a standout. I'll definitely be keeping this in mind as inspiration through the fall season. New shapes and cuts taking on classics and making the odd ones work well.

Parisian Style

Dresses by Reformation, the perfect, totally effortless and sheek dress styled with a nude lip and winged eye complimented by a clutch for a monochrome outfit
Alright,
So I've never actually been to Paris past the sidewalk that surrounds the airport or uttered more French than a greeting or what Duolingo asks me to but I feel as though Parisian fashion and the essence it carries makes itself very easy to be identified when displayed. My idea of it is simple and classic dress but with subtle sex appeal and effortless architectural pieces. With makeup styling being a bold lip at times, of course a sharp cat eye, or a total fresh washed face of no make up and hair being flexible from a side swept bang and a wavy pony, to rough bangs or a sleek bun. I think there aren't set rules but just an air that some ways of styling can really give nod to the French look.

A piece I love, an outfit, and an inspiration:

Jane Birkin and Serge Gainsbourg, the couple of many peoples affection and inspiration at the moment
The Whitepepper Bagel Blouse has the crisp whiteness of a sharp button down and a slight architectural element that adds whimsy in again a really effortless but cool and interesting way. Definitely eyeing this piece. Urban Outfitters, $75

And me, in my dads large button-down I've been trying to make work for a few years that is so oversized when tucked it in it looks blown up like a big balloon that actually works in my opinion
